An unlicensed Chinese tour guide got  three months in jail for attempting to bribe a policeman not to fine him.
The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance also ordered deportation of ZDQ, 30, after serving his jail term.

According to the records, ZDQ offered a Dubai police officer an unspecified amount of money to drop a Dh5,000 fine the policeman had issued against him when was caught operating as a tourist guide illegally.

ZDQ was spotted by a policeman of the Tourism Security Department while he was giving a tour of Madinat Jumeira souk to two Chinese men and a woman on June 2.

The policeman testified that the three tourists got out of a white Toyota and ZDQ was showing them the area. The policeman approached ZDQ and asked him what he was doing after showing him his ID card.

“The accused claimed the three were his friends. As he spoke only Chinese, I contacted the office to send a Chinese translator to question the three,” he testified.

The three companions of the accused confessed that ZDQ was giving them a tour of Dubai.

The policeman then took the accused’s driving licence and car registration and took his details to issue a fine of Dh5,000 for operating illegally.  ZDQ then sought to speak to the policeman privately.

"He took some money from his right pocket and tried to put it in my hand for cancelling the fine," testified the policeman.
