Unmarried woman delivers in Sharjah

Sharjah police are searching for a Nigerian building guard who is believed to be the father of a baby delivered by an unmarried Ethiopian woman at a local hospital.

The woman, 28, gave birth to a baby girl and doctors at Al Qassimi Hospital reported her to the police after discovering she is not married.

Newspapers said the woman also absconded from her sponsor nearly nine years ago and was working with other employers in violation of local labour laws.

They said police are hunting for the Nigerian who disappeared after learning his girlfriend was about to deliver.
