Victim's son wants death for killer in Sharjah
The son of an Asian man murdered by another Asian rejected diya (blood money) and insisted in court in Sharjah that the killer must be executed.
The killer had hoped he would reach a diya settlement with the victim’s brother, who asked the judge to give them one month to consider the offer.
But the victim’s son suddenly appeared in court and told the judge he and his mother and sisters reject diya and insist on Qasas (execution) under Islamic law.
“The judge then asked the son, who was born in 1991, to bring his mother and three sisters to court so they will make a statement asking for death sentence against the defendant,” ‘Emarat Al Youm’ daily said.
It said the judge then adjourned hearings to January 28 without giving details of the murder.
