Dubai's economic authorities seized a large quantities of “magic pens” which could be used in forging cheques and documents. Inspectors from the Department of Economic Development said they impounded thousands of such pens, which are filled with a type of ink that vanishes just moments after writing, Emirat Alyoum daily said.

It quoted Omar Khalifa, head of commercial supervision and consumer protection division, as saying the pens were seized in the Industrial Khor area during a routine visit by the Department inspectors. He noted that Dubai’s police and the UAE Central Bank have warned against the use of such pens, which are made in China.
