Visitors to the Khorfakkan Hospital are peeved at having to share the customer service section with labourers who arrive there for medical examinations.
According to Al Ittihad, people to go there to attest their medical leave certificates, health cards and birth certificates, have to endure the crowded area.
The daily quoted a UAE national as saying it was “real suffering” and the entire section had just one computer, adding to the problems.
Fatima Abdullah who went there to get her maid’s medical tests done, lamented the lack of a women-only section. The congestion affects mobility within the premises and thus add on to the total time taken to get any service.
However, Dr Mohammed Al Muhallabi, Director of Khorfakan Preventive Medicine Center said it was only a matter of time before the new building is opened.
Once staffed, the new building with modern facilities will open to public and thus ease the situation.
The new building is equipped with a radiology department, pathology lab, and waiting areas.
He said 25 newly recruited staff, including nurses, ought to reduce pressure on the existing team working at the centre.
