A journalist at the official Emirates News Agency (Wam) died after his car rammed into a power pole while on his way to Fujairah.

Mohammed Al Shujaa was driving towards the eastern town when he lost control of his vehicle and swerved off the road.

The car rammed into a power pole, causing serious injuries to Al Shujaa, according to the Arabic language daily Al Khaleej.

It said he was rushed to hospital in Dibba but died on the way, adding that he was buried in Fujairah on Sunday.
