UAE soldiers returning home from Yemen after fighting for the reinstatement of legitimacy said they are willing to go back to the Arab country for a fresh task.

The soldiers, who were given a heroes' welcome by the UAE leaders and people on Saturday, also said they have strong faith in their leadership and nation.

“We have strong faith in our leadership. We derive our strength from our leaders and people and we are ready to sacrifice ourselves for them,” said Hani Al Mahdi, a UAE soldier who was among the returning troops on Saturday.

“I am proud to have contributed to the liberation of Yemen from the enemies of legitimacy. We are all ready again to sacrifice our souls. If our leaders want us to go back to Yemen, we will go immediately without hesitation.”

Another soldier, quoted by the Arabic daily Emarat Al Youm, also said he is willing to return to Yemen immediately.

“We are all for our country and leadership. We are ready to return to the battle field in Yemen right now and sacrifice our souls for our country’s glory and for the support and defence of right and justice,” Obaid Suleiman Obaid said.

Another soldier, Ahmed Al Shehi, said he was impressed by the public welcome given to the troops returning from Yemen as part of a redeployment plan.

“We are ready again and again to return and contribute to supporting our brothers in Yemen against the aggressors,” he said.

Salim Abdullah Salim, who spent nearly eight months in Yemen, said he was touched by the reception given to the returning soldiers by the leaders and people. “This reception made me forget about the difficulties we faced in Yemen,” he said.

Emarat Al Youm quoted Lt Salim Al Zayoudi as saying he was delighted by the achievements of the UAE troops in Yemen.

“What we have accomplished in Yemen is a source of pride to me and everyone in the UAE. The reception given to us today is the best certificate I can get. I am very grateful to our Sheikhs, leaders and people for this wonderful reception and I assure all of them that we will remain at their disposal and ready for any emergency.”
