We survived because it was Dubai: Emirates passenger

"Miraculous escape. I cannot believe I am alive," says one of the passengers onboard the Emirates airline flight EK521 that met with an accident at the Dubai International Airport today.

"We are all safe. All the passengers are currently at Dubai International Airport," Joji, who was travelling to Dubai to attend a wedding, told Emirates 24|7.

Narrating the sequence of events, he said there were no indications of any problem ahead of landing.

"We survived because it was Dubai. The runway was long enough to manage the situation," he said.

According to him the evacuation was done within seven to ten minutes.

"The moment the flight landed, everyone jumped out of the flight. There was some commotion but finally everything ended well. I have not heard of any causalities," he said.

The flight was carrying about 282 passengers and 18 crew members, and according to airport officials, everyone is safe.

"We are all still at the airport. They are taking a headcount. Transit passengers are being moved," he said at around 3.15pm local time. The flight landed at around 12:45pm.
