The weekend rains in the UAE claimed one innocent life.

A 7-year-old child died after falling into a deep hole filled with rainwater in Wadi Shaam area of Ras Al Khaimah. 

Colonel Suleiman Mohammed Alkizi Rams, Head, Police Station, said that the operations room received an alert that an Emirati kid had drowned in a pond.

Investigations revealed that child was playing with her siblings when she accidently fell into the 7-meter pit. The water in the pit was used by residents for irrigation and feed animals.

The area is within four walls with a gate. But the kids entered the premises, nevertheless.

Neighbours rushed out on hearing the kids scream for help, but they could not save the girl.

Colonel Suleiman Alkizi offered condolences to the family and urged residents to exercise caution. He asked parents to monitor children’s’ activities.
