Weekend weather: Thunderstorms subside to make way for sunny climes

Following the last of the rainfall, the UAE’s weather is expected to return to stable climes, with the Mercury gradually rising, even as a spike in humidity levels gives rise to early morning fog on Friday.

The UAE’s National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) has said the convective clouds will make way for partly overcast weather over the weekend, with, both Friday and Saturday, witnessing a development of mist and fog over the southwestern and inland areas.

The spokesperson for NCMS further stated: “On Friday, the UAE will witness early morning fog brought on by a rise in humidity levels, with Saturday also following in a similar pattern.

“The day time will be generally sunny and warm, with temperatures averaging in the mid-twenties.

“The sea will also be moderate and calm.”

The calm comes after the 48 hours of stormy weather with the UAE witnessing thunderstorms, several hail showers and a deluge that has caused waterlogging in the northeastern part of the state.

The NCMS attributed this ‘unstable weather’ to the transitional period between winter and spring seasons.

Meanwhile, severe waterlogging has been reported in parts of Fujairah and Sharjah, with emergency services clearing out neighbourhoods even on Thursday.
