Welcome to UAE's '2nd of December' street
Signboards signalling the new name of the old Al Dhiyafah Street were already out in full display early this morning.
The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai last evening replaced all old signboards with the old name that read '2nd of December' street.
In a move to mark the 40th anniversary of the UAE national day, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum had ordered changing the name of Al Dhiyafah Street in Dubai into '2nd of December' street.
The new name will cover the 2,500- meter long street, stretching from the Union House (Dar Al Ittihad) off Jumeirah road, crossing Satwa to the Dubai World Trade Centre Roundabout.
One of Dubai's oldest street it leads to Dar Al Ittihad, the landmark location that saw the declaration of the UAE on the 2nd of December 1971.
