Wishing Emirates 24|7 Readers a very happy Pongal, Sankranti, Bihu, Lohri

Published

India celebrates the winter harvest festival this entire week. While it is known by different names in different parts of India, Uttarayan in Gujarat, Lohri in Punjab, Pongal in Tamil Nadu, Makar Sankranti in the Gangetic belt and Magha Bihu in Assam, it is primarily a time of celebration and thanksgiving after the new harvest.

The common thread, apart from the revelry, that binds them all is food and the great Indian cuisine.

So, what traditional food are you cooking in your kitchen this year? Send us images of Sakkarai Pongal, Peethe, Pathishapta, Nolen gur-er Payesh, Til Gajak, or any other traditional food that you are rustling up as a special thanksgiving offering during the Indian harvest festival.

Email us your images and recipes (optional) @ emiratesedit@gmail.com

A few, selected recipes and images will be uploaded on our website and social media pages. You can send the recipes and the images together @ emiratesedit@gmail.com

Please add 'Indian harvest festival' in the subject line before you email the recipes and images.

Also, do not forget to add the name of the dish and your name along with the images and the recipes. A short description of the dish would also be appreciated.

Happy cooking and clicking.
