A woman has accumulated Dh146,000 in traffic fines , most of which have been committed in Dubai, Alkhaleej newspaper reported on Saturday.
The woman immediately responded to traffic police requests and paid all the fines which resulted from excess speed on Sheikh Zayed Road, planted by at least 30 speed cameras, the paper said.
“Around Dh126,000 of the fines belong to Dubai while the rest to another emirate,” Alkhaleej said, quoting Major General Mohammed Al Zafeen, Director of the Dubai’s General Traffic Department.
The paper did not identify the woman but said she is in her 30s and drives a sport car. She committed the offences over a period of 18 months.
The paper also cited police figures showing Dubai has collected nearly Dh386 million in traffic fines over the past nine months.
