A young Emirati woman has filed a lawsuit against her husband claiming that he abandoned her and had not consummated the marriage.

The young woman claimed that she wants divorce because the husband never had  intercourse with her after their wedding.

The wife reported in her complaint that the husband has abandoned her for the past two years.

She told the court that the husband spends most of his time with the first wife, and she is suffering due to this for the past two years.

She also accused that she had asked her husband to arrange a house for her but he had refused and she is still living in her father's house.

The wife had approached the Ras Al Khaimah Family Guidance Department for reconciliation but the attempt failed, forcing her to file a suit for a divorce.

The Ras Al Khaimah Marriage Court has conducted a number of hearings and listened to statements of both the parties. The verdict is expected to be announced at the next hearing on April 30.

In another case, the Ras Al Khaimah Marriage Court rejected a woman’s appeal for divorce from her husband for abandoning her by not providing a separate house for her and the children.

The court, however, ruled that the husband must pay Dh6,000 as alimony to his wife and the three children.

The wife had approached the Ras Al Khaimah Family Guidance Department for divorce after the husband refused to bear expenses of his family and had abandoned them for months.

Meanwhile, the husband filed a countersuit in the Ras Al Khaima Marriage Court against wife demanding her return to his house.

The Court asked the Ras Al Khaimah Family Guidance Department to examine the house and make sure that it is suitable for living for the wife and kids. Following the inspection, the department informed the court that the house contains all the household needs and is suitable for living.

The committee decided that the husband's house is fit to be marital home, and there is nothing to prevent the wife from living with her children in the same home.
