A woman of GCC nationality has filed a case against her ex-husband before the Abu Dhabi Court of First Instance, requesting the court to assign an auditor to calculate the amount of money she had spent on him during the period of their marriage, the Al Bayan Arabic newspaper has reported.

The newspaper said the woman told the court that she can provide the auditor with documents detailing the amounts of money she had spent for her ex-husband. She said she intended to use the auditor’s report as evidence in court.

In the case, she claimed that her ex-husband had borrowed about Dh700,000 from her during their marriage.

She said she lent him Dh145,000 to buy a car  after taking a personal loan from a bank. She said she took another loan of Dh35,000 from a bank and gave it to her ex-husband to buy another car.

She added that he also took Dh100,000 from her for decorating their marital home but put the money in his own pocket.

Her ex-husband also grabbed Dh170,000 in dividends and other profits from investments in the stock market.

The woman also accused him of taking over Dh85,000 in rent of a home owned by her family  and  Dh78,000 as rental income from a bus she bought with her own money but whose ownership he had transferred to his name, according to a public attorney.

She claimed that her ex-husband had borrowed Dh1,800 for renewing the housemaid’s residence visa and Dh3,400 for the maid’s air ticket. She had also paid Dh4,600 per month as salaries of the driver, cook and housemaid.

She added that her ex-husband has withdrawn Dh49,638 and Dh13,305 from her bank account.

However, the ex-husband’s lawyer urged the court to dismiss her lawsuit, claiming that the documents provided to the court the plaintiff are not authentic

The plaintiff’s lawyer urged the court to ask the defendant to take an oath that he had not borrowed the various amounts mentioned by his ex-wife.
