Work starts to lift sunken ship off UAQ

A ship which sank last Wednesday off Umm Al Quwain coast is being salvaged now as the weather and sea conditions improved, Environment and Water Minister Dr Rashid Ahmed bin Fahd announced.
Dr bin Fahd said diving operations to determine exact position and condition of sunken vessel 'The White Whale', began on Saturday from abroad a giant ship pending its recovery.
"A team from the Ministry's Marine Research Centre is stationed there to ensure a clean recovery operation without causing any oil spills," he added.
It is expected that the ship will be fully recovered by tomorrow.
