Worker gets Dh100,000 for damaged eye

A court in Abu Dhabi ordered a local employer to pay Dh100,000 damages to a worker who suffered from a serious damage in his right eye in an accident during duty after finding the company guilty of negligence, a newspaper reported on Monday.

The court supported the prosecutor’s argument that the company failed to comply with safety rules by not supplying the worker with protective glasses.

It also fined the firm Dh3,000 for negligence, which led to the accident that caused a “permanent” damage in the worker’s eye, Alkhaleej daily said.
