Among the hundreds of soft drinks and beverages that were displayed at the Gulfood 2014, a unique cola brand attracted visitors.

Dubai Cola is a carbonated soft drink mixed with pure Arabian dates and honey. “It is a revolution in the world of soft drinks,” claims the producer, who is expanding into other markets.

It is now available in the UAE at various Emarat petrol stations and will be soon available in other convenient stores and Enoc/Eppco stations.

Dubai Cola, from Dubai Cola Company, is manufactured in Fiedenza, Italy, by a German company. The syrup is shipped now to Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Brunei, Algeria, France, UK, Norway and Switzerland, said a senior company official.

“It is approved for use at Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Al Maya Supermarket, Union Cooperative Society, Dubai Marina and a number of other stations in the UAE,” said the official.

“The halal soft drink is sold in the UAE for Dh3 per bottle of 330 ml,” said Ahmed Rashdy, Sales Executive for Dubai Cola Company.

Launched a couple of years back, the Dubai Cola will now will be exported to more countries,  according to the official, who said it has a shelf-life of two years.

Dubai is synonymous with luxury and the company is attempting to cash in on the Dubai brand image to attract customers, especially in the Arab World. The name is written in golden letters on the bottle to symbolises luxury.

“About 400 people work in our factory and the cola is made of very fresh cola compounds, natural dates, honey and normal sugar. No artificial addictive’s are added to the cola,” he said.

A Dubai Cola promotion poster in Arabic and English reads: ‘Boring? Nothing to do? Open a cold can of dates and honey?’ Another advertisement reads: ‘Let Date cola be your favourite drink.’

“We got good feedback at Gulfood exhibition,” the official said.
