Young Emirati dies in head-on collision

A young Emirati died in an accident involving four vehicles in Masafi area on Tuesday evening.

Three others – including one Emirati and two Asians – were injured in the accident.

Colonel Ali Saeed Al Alkim, Director of Traffic and Patrols at Ras Al Khaimah Police, said the preliminary investigation results showed that the accident was caused by the young Emirati who was accompanied by his friend, who succumbed to injuries.

“The accident happened when the young man was trying to overtake and was surprised by the vehicle from the opposite direction. He tried to avoid accident but couldn’t and had an head-on collision. His vehicle veered off the road and hit a truck before stopping on the roadside,” he said.

Colonel Ali offered condolences to the family of the deceased and urged drivers to abide by traffic rules.
