Young Emirati killed on way to Dubai

A 19-year-old Emirati was killed in a car crash while he was on his way to Dubai after ramming into another vehicle, according to police.

The boy was with two friends when another car driven by an Emirati made the wrong turn in Samha, which is undergoing major road development.

The accident resulted in the death of HM while the driver and the other friend suffered light injuries. Police did not say if the driver of the other car was hurt.

Emirati killed, little daughter escapes in car crash

A 37-year-old Emirati man was killed but his four-year-old daughter escaped with light injuries in a car crash in the eastern oasis town of Al Ain.
Police said the man rammed into a large palm tree after hitting another car on Khalifa street in the city because of speed and negligence.

“He was killed on the spot while his daughter suffered from light injuries,” said Major Mohsen Al Mansoori, head of Al Ain Traffic police.

Briton cyclist killed on UAQ road

A 50-year-old British man was killed after his motorcycle rammed into steel barriers in the middle of Emirates Road in Umm Al Quwain because of speed.

The unnamed man was riding his motorcycle on the road towards Ras Al Khaimah when he lost control and hit the steel barriers separating the opposite lanes on the road near intersection 116.

“The accident was caused by high speed and sudden turn by the driver,” the Arabic language daily Alittihad said, quoting Captain Saif Salim of UAQ police.

He said the motorcycle was totally damaged after catching fire, adding that the strong impact killed the Briton on the spot although he had his helmet on and wore protective clothes.

Two men drown in Dibba Fujairah

An Emirati teenager and a Pakistani man died after they drowned in separate incidents in the water off Dibba Fujeirah, press reports said on Saturday.

Yousuf Abdullah, 16, was with his friends on a boat in the sea off the eastern town on Friday when he jumped into the water for a swim.

Quoted by Alkhaleej newspaper, police said Abdullah, a resident of Ajman, drowned because of strong currents. His body was plucked out of thewater by the civil defence after his friends phoned the police.

Police said another man, a 25-year-old Pakistani, drowned in Wareea fountains area off Dibba on the same day. They identified him as Mohammed Omair Khan.
