The Zayed Giving Convoys have intensified their efforts in Somalia by providing medical treatment to thousands of children and elderly people.

The treatment, conducted under the supervision of Emirati-Somali volunteers’ team, is part of a global humanitarian initiative to alleviate the suffering of the needy.

The initiative is also in response to 2017 being named the Year of Giving by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and coincides with the 'For You Somalia Initiative' to enhance the role played by the UAE and its humanitarian and cultural message to ease the suffering of the Somali people.

Omran Mohammad Abdullah, a member of the board of Dar Al Ber, emphasised that the voluntary medical team has succeeded in treating more than 2,000 children during the first two days of the operation of the mobile field hospital.

The humanitarian missions conducted by the Zayed Giving Convoys at Hargeisa completed their missions in various Somali cities over the past years, and they benefited more than half a million children and elderly Somalis, he added.
