Emirati family returning from Kalba cruise die in horrific road crash

An Emirati family - father, mother and two children - were killed in a collision between two vehicles in Kalba yesterday afternoon, as they were returning from a cruise trip.
The bodies of the deceased were transferred to Al Qassimi Hospital, while the driver of the other vehicle, who survived the crash, was moved to Al Dhaid Hospital with injuries.
Director-General of Civil Defence, Sharjah, Brigadier Abdullah Saeed Al Suwaidi, told ‘Emarat Al Youm’ that the operations room received a call on the incident at 12.19pm, and moved rescue teams to the scene immediately.
He said the Sharjah Police concluded that the accident was a collision between two vehicles, as a result of the first vehicle, which was driven by a Emirati, aged 22, trying to avoid sand on the street.
This caused him to bang into the concrete road divider and veer onto the other side of the road, colliding with the second vehicle.
The power of the collision caused the deaths of passengers and the driver of the second vehicle.
