Family of 46 gets Dh32,000 power bill

A Saudi man with four wives and 41 children got a shock when he received a power bill for SR32,000 (Dh32,000) for three months.

“I know that I have a big family but the bill is exaggerated. I think they have made a mistake,” Ali Al Balwi said, quoted by ‘Sabq’ newspaper.

He said the electricity company had apparently made the bill on a commercial not individual consumer basis, adding that he has just moved to a new two-storey house.

Sabq said Balwi lives in the Southern Saudi town of Baha and has 20 sons and 21 daughters from four wives.
