Fog Alert: Dubai flight to Delhi diverted

Delhi International Airport

Published

The second day of heavy fog has crippled the New Delhi International Airport once again, with 50 metres of visibility forcing authorities to close operations this morning.

A Jet Airways, flight 9W 547 from Dubai to Delhi, which was scheduled to arrive at 4.05am in the Indian capital has been diverted; Oman Air WY 241 from Muscat has also been diverted.

Meanwhile, the online ticker at Delhi Airport has confirmed that two Emirates flights taking off from Dubai have also been delayed, EK510 and EK8512, by approximately 3.5 hours and two hours, respectively.

Also facing a six-hour delay is Gulf Air flight 310 from Bahrain.

New Delhi has been facing heavy fog conditions these past two days, with reportedly 130 domestic and international flights affected by the weather conditions.

It is also being reported that a number of commuter trains have also been delayed due to low visibility.

People took to Twitter in frustration with Shiva Kollagunta tweeting: “We have a world class airport Delhi and new aircrafts, advanced flight and ground systems. Yet unable to tackle the fog menace.”

Zeba Siddiqui wrote: “Camping at Ahmedabad airport for the past five hours because flight is delayed, thanks to fog in Delhi.”

Vandana Vadhera wrote: “Stuck in the aircraft for the last three hours at the Delhi airport. Headed for Guwahati.”
