Dubai Charity Association has laid the foundation stone for the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Village in Sri Lanka.

The village, located in Al Manar area, north of Sri Lanka, is planned to accommodate 50 houses for underprivileged families, a mosque for more than 270 worshippers, and a school with an occupancy capacity of 240 students.

In addition, the village will have an electric pump, a 2,000-litre water tank, a four-room medical facility and four water wells, which will be drilled at a total cost of AED1.825 million. This will be carried out in collaboration with the Sri Lankan government and a Sri Lankan company, which will be in charge of the execution.

The project, which is aimed at providing disadvantaged Muslim families in the Asian country with basic life requirements, adds to the UAE track record of charity achievements and gives prominence to the noble humanitarian role of late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in ensuring social security and solidarity between different segments of society.

The foundation stone was laid by a delegation of the association, which included Ahmed Mesmar, Secretary-General, and Hussein Abdul Raheem Gargash, Deputy Chairman, in the presence of the UAE Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Abdul Hameed Abdul Fattah Kazim.
