Gang of 8 car thieves busted in Sharjah
A gang of eight Arab nationals, who specialized in stealing cars and exporting them, was arrested by Sharjah Police.
Dozens of cars and buses disappeared from their parking spaces in the recent past from different areas of Sharjah, indicating a similar pattern in the theft.
The police launched a massive investigation and hunt which lead them to four suspects including the owner of a used car showroom.
The gang’s modus operandi was to steal vehicles, dismantle them and smuggle them out of the country as used spare parts.
The gang had a working relation with a driver of a famous hotel whose buses were stolen.
When the four were interrogated following their arrest they pointed towards the driver, who used to hand over the keys of the buses to the showroom owner who copied them and then stole the vehicles using the copied keys.
The confession of the four led to the arrest of the driver and further interrogation led the police to other three members of the gang.
Another gang who used similar tactics was arrested by Dubai Police recently.
