1,117 children found eligible for UAE citizenship

A committee tasked with implementing directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan on naturalising children of UAE women wed to foreigners has raised a list of 1,117 children who are eligible for UAE citizenship to the President for action.

Chaired by Ahmed Juma Al Za'abi, Deputy Minister of Presidential Affairs, the committee discussed the list prepared by the Ministry of Interior after the eligible children satisfied requirements for citizenship when they turn 18 years. Decrees on granting citizenship will be issued as per working legal procedures.

The body was set up by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and has members and representatives from the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, the Higher National Security Council, the State Security Authority and the Ministry of Interior.

The presidential directives call for providing equal treatment of those children with their Emirati peers in deliver of educational and health services as well as sports activities.
