Dialogue generates ideas and ideas produce innovation: Mohammed

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, has affirmed the significance of assessing the government’s readiness to adopt a culture of innovation, implementing proposed ideas for enhancing government services and evaluating this process objectively.
Sheikh Mohammed made these comments while chairing a brainstorming session with his team at his office in Emirates Towers.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Head of Sheikh Mohammed’s Executive Office, Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, attended the brainstorming session.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed said that the awards offered by the government should be updated annually to match the changes taking place around us as well as to include fresh approaches.
His Highness stressed on the importance of preparing the new generation of leaders so that they can adapt and take advantage of the rapid changes taking place around us.
His Highness said that it is his job as a leader to select the best ideas from all teams and turn them into reality in order to serve the people, adding that dialogue generates ideas and ideas produce innovation in all government sectors.
During the session, Sheikh Mohammed affirmed that the smart government project must continue evolving and keep pace with the latest scientific and technological developments.
‘Explore wearable technology’
He said that smart government is not limited to smart mobile devices and should explore wearable technology.
While reviewing the preparations for the Innovation Week that will be held next February, Sheikh Mohammed said: "The Innovation Week is an important chapter in the national innovation strategy that was launched by His Highness the President, and we must find practical and workable ideas to enhance government services."
His Highness also reviewed the progress of the Arab Reading Challenge.
He said: "When we read, we always learn something new. The Arab Reading Challenge is aimed at encouraging the new generation to read. We are targeting the reading of 50 million books by one million students."
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid also reviewed the work process and latest ideas proposed by the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, the Prime Minister’s Office, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Executive Office and the Mohammed bin Rashid Global Initiatives.
The brainstorming session was attended by Secretary General of the Cabinet Najla Al Awar, Director General of the Office of the Prime Minister Ohood Roumi, Director General of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Executive Office Abdullah Basti, Executive Director of the Government Communication Office Saeed Al Eter, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Museum of the Future Foundation Saif Al Alili, Director of Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation Huda Al Hashimi and a number of senior officials from the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and the Executive Office.
