Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council (DEC) Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has issued Resolution No. (34) Of 2013, on the traffic census.

The resolution specifies a set of objectives, especially the provision of the necessary data to develop the network of roads and infrastructure of transportation and traffic in Dubai, and to raise the level of safety, security and convenience for road users, as well as to identify the obstacles and difficulties on roads and find appropriate solutions to ensure the smooth run of traffic and safety, in addition to measuring indicators of future growth against the size of traffic, and the validity of the road network against the size of the flow of traffic.

The new resolution singled out the Traffic and Roads Agency at Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), with the task of conducting the traffic census, with the resolution setting the validity period of the census to one year from the date of preparation. The resolution also freed the Traffic and Roads Agency and the Roads and Transport Authority from any responsibility before others regarding the results released by the beneficiary regarding data included in the census.

Furthermore, Sheikh Hamdan issued Resolution No. (35) Of 2013, concerning the endorsement of the organisational structures of strategic and corporate governance, Corporate Technical Support Services and Corporate Administrative Support Services at Roads and Transport Authority.

He also issued DEC Resolutions No. (36) and No. (37) Of 2013 approving the organisational structures of the Automated Fare Collection System at the Corporate Technical Support Services Sector at RTA and the Dubai Marine Public Transport at RTA’s Public Transport Agency.

As per Article I of Resolution No. (36) For 2013, The name "Unified Card Department of Transport System" at RTA’s Corporate Technical Support Services sector replaces the "Automated Collection Systems Department".

The resolutions are effective from the date of their issuance and shall be published in the Official Gazette
