Khalifa opens 100MW solar plant in presence of Mohammed

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan inaugurated the Shams 1 solar power station in Madinat Zayed, the Western Region today in presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Present at the inauguration ceremony of the Shams 1, the 100MW concentrating solar power station which uses parabolic-trough technology, was by Abu Dhabi Crown and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Deputy Ruler and Minister of Finance Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, sheikhs, ministers and top government officials.

During the ceremony, Sheikh Khalifa highlighted that the project is considered a milestone achievement of UAE’s future vision to diversify its economy and energy sources. The grand project will provide clean electricity to approximately 20,000 homes.

New Cabinet ministers sworn in before Khalifa, Mohammed

On the sidelines of the inauguration of the Shams 1 solar power station in Madinat Zayed, the Western Region today, new Cabinet ministers were sworn in before UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Cabinet ministers took their oath in presence of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Dubai Deputy Ruler and Minister of Finance Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais was sworn in as the new Minister of Health, Suhail Mohammed Faraj Fares Al Mazrouei as Minister of Energy, Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi as Minister of Public Works, Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber as Minister of State and Abdullah bin Mohammed Ghobash as Minister of State.
