Maktoum seeks more media development

Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI), chaired a meeting of the Board of Directors of DMI at which work strategy outlines for the next phase were reviewed.

Last year’s achievements in various DMI sectors and the extent of consistency of these sectors within the context of the UAE Vision 2021 were also discussed.

During the meeting, Sheikh Maktoum stressed the enormous responsibility placed on the media in light of the Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s emphasis on the essential role of media as an important and pivotal partner of the government, especially in monitoring and highlighting achievements as a means of stimulating and encouraging, and identifying lapses that need to be modified and developed.

Dubai’s Deputy Ruler also noted the need for dedicating attention to training young cadres and giving those who are creative the opportunity to highlight their full potential in their respective field of specialisation.

He also stressed the need to supply DMI’s various sectors and specialisations with national qualified cadres, asserting DMI’s full commitment to honing the skills of its employees and enhancing their level of professionalism to augment the work system and maximize DMI’s ability to keep pace with the rapid development of the Emirate of Dubai and the ambitious vision of the UAE.

During the meeting, which saw the attendance of DMI Board Vice Chairman and Managing Director of DMI, Sami Al Qamzi, and all board DMI members, Sheikh Maktoum was briefed on the flow of work and development actions that have been implemented over the past months, and the outcome achieved towards strengthening media performance and improving its product in various forms in a manner that ensures maintaining DMI’s leading position at local and regional levels, asserting its ability to deliver content that can compete with global media counterparts.

Sheikh Maktoum listened to DMI members’ ideas and suggestions and welcomed each contribution that may support DMI’s ability to carry out its media mission to the fullest, stressing that the door is open to any proposal that adds to DMI’s overall performance levels and supports its goals in terms of providing meaningful content that is characterised by creativity and keeps pace with the rapid development movement which positively affected various walks of life in the UAE.

DMI has won numerous important awards, the latest of which was last November, when it won "BroadcastPro Middle East" for the best government media organisation in 2013, after tough competition with Arab satellite broadcasters.

Maktoum bin Mohammed chairs DIFC meeting

Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and President of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), today chaired the meeting of the Higher Board of Directors of DIFC to discuss a number of topics.

Topics discussed at the meeting include DIFC's 2014-2015 budget, a work plan for the next two years, development of real estate sector at DIFC, an initiative to develop DIFC plans, improvement of its services, as well as the regulatory, legislative and administrative development of DIFC's three bodies: DIFC Authority, Dubai Financial Services Authority and DIFC Court.

Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid praised DIFC's three bodies for their efforts to develop sustainable long-term plans for employing and training Emirati talents, and for achieving DIFC's strategies in the past two years.

He underscored the need for continuing efforts to create an efficient and advanced environment for local and international investors.

Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed said the growth of DIFC's financial services reflects increasing international confidence, and described the growing number and volume of transactions through DIFC as positive indicators for the economy of Dubai and UAE.
