Media a bridge between government and community: Mohammed

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, today visited the headquarters of the Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO) and met with its employees.
During his visit, Sheikh Mohammed was briefed about GDMO’s operations as well as recent projects and initiatives undertaken as part of its strategic plan developed to contribute to the objectives of the Dubai Plan 2021.
Sheikh Mohammed expressed satisfaction at the progress of projects that support the emirate’s objective of building effective conduits of communication with media outlets, locally and internationally.
Sheikh Mohammed encouraged the GDMO team to strive their utmost to enhance cooperation with various government departments. He said these efforts will support the UAE’s progress as it enters a new phase of social and economic development marked by accelerated growth.
Addressing GDMO’s employees, Sheikh Mohammed said that sustaining success requires the investment of more time and effort, adding that the challenging period that the Arab region is going through calls for greater diligence and focus on goals.
He said that he will continue to follow GDMO’s progress and expressed his appreciation for the proposed ideas and projects aimed at facilitating smoother communication and interaction between media and government departments.
He added that he is keen to enhance transparency so that the media becomes a window for the public to know about the government’s efforts in all areas. The media, he said, serves as a bridge between the government and the community.
Sheikh Mohammed stressed on the importance of adopting the latest media technologies.
He called on the team to explore and adopt new technologies that can enhance the GDMO’s ability to carry out its responsibilities. Sheikh Mohammed also called on GDMO to continue recruiting the best people and attracting young UAE talent. He commended the GDMO team for its spirit of innovation and creativity.

Director-General of the Government of Dubai Media Office Mona Al Marri briefed Sheikh Mohammed on the most important ideas and projects that the Office is currently implementing to enhance the Office’s capabilities and further build effective interaction with local and international media.

Sheikh Mohammed was also briefed on the latest technical infrastructure that the Office has deployed including ultra-high definition 4K technology, satellite broadcasting systems, video and audio production, digital archiving system and the social media command centre.
