Mohamed receives Yemen PM

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, today received the visiting Yemeni Prime Minister, Dr. Ahmed Obeid bin Daghr, at Al Bahr Palace.

Sheikh Mohamed hailed the existing strong bilateral relations between the UAE and Yemen. They also reviewed the fraternal relations and the growing mutual co-operation in the best interests of the two fraternal countries and peoples.

Sheikh Mohamed was briefed by Yemen's Prime Minister about the latest military developments in Yemen in the light of the progress achieved by the legitimacy forces on a number fronts and the political developments, especially the latest results of the consultations round between the parties to the Yemeni crisis in the State of Kuwait.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi was also briefed about the humanitarian and relief operations currently taking place in more than one area to provide assistance to the affected people in Yemen.

Sheikh Mohamed confirmed the supportive stance of the UAE, led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to the Yemeni people to overcome the security and economic challenges, and achieve national aspirations to rebuild what was destroyed by the rebels.

He also indicated that the UAE supports all the measures taken by the Arab coalition, led by Saudi Arabia, to restore the security and legitimacy to Yemen, and defeat the rebel and coup entities that cause havoc, destruction and threaten the security and stability of the region, while working on prospects of peaceful settlement to reach a comprehensive political solution that puts an end to the suffering of the people of Yemen.

Sheikh Mohamed said that the UAE seeks to provide humanitarian assistance and ensure stability and security across Yemen, and contribute to building the national, economic and social institutions to discharge their desired role in meeting the basic requirements of the Yemeni people so as to resume its role in the construction, development and prosperity.

Bin Daghr extended his thanks and appreciation to the UAE for its historic and supportive stance, and noble sacrifices towards the people of Yemen. He also referred to the UAE humanitarian aid to the people of Yemen.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Yemeni Prime Minister emphasised their support to the United Nations' endeavours through backing negotiations between the Yemeni parties.

Among those who attended the meeting from the UAE side were Sheikh Surour bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, a number of Sheikhs, and Ali Musleh Al Ahbabi, the UAE Special Envoy to Yemen.

In attendance from the Yemeni side were Yemeni Finance Minister Munser al-Quaiti, and other ministers.
