Mohammed at Arab Media Forum on Day 2

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday graced again the on-going Arab Media Forum at the Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai.
 
He was accompanied by Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and top officials and personalities.
 
Sheikh Mohammed attended the session which Sheikh Waleed Al Ibrahim, MBC Group Chairman was interviewed by Adel Al Toraifi, Editor-in-Chief of Al Sharq Al Awsat newspaper.
 
Mohammed visits Arab Media Forum's media centre

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai , on Wednesday visited the media centre of the ongoing 13th Arab Media Forum (AMF) in Jumeirah City, Dubai.

During the tour to the forum's media centre, Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Director General of the Dubai Government Media Office, Chairwoman of Dubai Press Club and the AMF organising committee, briefed Sheikh Mohammed on the modern facilities, including live broadcasting, that enabled the numerous journalists, reporters and photographers to send real-time reports on the forum to their media organisations.

Later, Sheikh Mohammed met a number of prominent media leaders, key writers and industry specialists and had exchanges with them on the forum and the facilities provided for some 2,000 participants.

In his remarks at the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed commended the role media persons play in showing the reality in Arab countries. He also emphasised the importance of commitment to professional ethics and principles in order to provide a clear roadmap for the next generation of Arab media.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid met with the representatives of the major sponsors of the Arab Media Forum. He commended their role in achieving the success of such events, establishing the good reputation of U.A.E. and consolidating the principle of cooperation and integration between the country's private and public sectors.

Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman Dubai Media Inc. accompanied Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid during his tour and meetings.

Earlier Story: Yesterday His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, opened the Arab Media Forum in Dubai on Tuesday.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid also launched the Future Editing Smart Hall in the media centre of the Arab Media Forum.

In the presence of Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, the hall was revealed for the first time in the Arab world and was launched on the occasion of the Arab Media Forum in Dubai.

AMF 2014: Excitingly unpredictable future: Egypt PM


Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid was briefed by the Director-General of the Government of Dubai Media Office, Mona Ghanem Al Marri, on ways to use the devices and advanced electronic screens by media personnel and journalists.

Al Marri said that the hall is the first of its kind in the Arab world.

The launch ceremony was attended by Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gargawi, Minister for Cabinet Affairs, and a number of senior officials.

The 13th Edition of the annual gathering of media personalities from the UAE, the Arab World and the international arena, witnessed a keynote address by the Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab.

In her welcome address Mona Al Marri, Director General of the Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO), said: “First and foremost, allow me to welcome His Excellency the Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab to the United Arab Emirates.

“And let me take this opportunity to express gratitude to you, your Highness Sheikh Mohammed, for the Arab Media Forum (AMF) would not have been launched and succeeded so far if it weren’t for your unremitting support and everlasting encouragement for the media, in general, and the Forum, in particular,” the DGMO Director General said.

“In line with your wise directives and care, your Highness, development and innovation became integral parts in our approach to achieve our goals and objectives. Today, we are proud that the AMF won the trust of the Arab media community to become a fixed, annual gathering where media persons interact to discuss truth and reality of their profession, aspects of its progress and aspirations,” she pointed out.

Al Marri said the two-day Forum is being held amid concerns over the exceptional circumstances afflicting the media in the Arab World and which have laid unprecedented challenges, testing both professionals and media industry. 

“Inevitably, these challenges have affected the media in Egypt. Known for its pioneering role in media across the history, the media in Egypt is deemed to play a bigger role in the coming phase. 

“We are pleased today to have among us Ibrahim Mahlab who will tell us about the media role in forming the new reality of the media in Egypt as well as its role in fostering stability, growth and prosperity towards securing Egypt’s future,” she said.

Need to keep up with changes

In context of rapid changes in media technology and fierce competition, Al Marri said “we are in dire need to keep up with such transformations efficiently. Further, we need to improve performance standards in line with content and be able to interact with the new players of the digital media.

The theme “The Future of Media Starts Today” opted for AMF’s 13th edition was chosen to remind all that media plays a vital role in making the future. 

“And in order to be prepared for and be able to anticipate the future, we need to be optimistic, think in a futuristic manner and focus on what is required tomorrow rather than what should have been done yesterday; and with confidence and resilience be able to face the challenges ahead,” DGMO Director General Mona Al Marri advised.

Mohammed receives Egyptian PM

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Tuesday received Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Ibrahim Mahlab.

The meeting, which was attended by Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, reviewed the historical fraternal relations between the UAE and the Arab Republic of Egypt and their brotherly peoples.

Sheikh Mohammed and Dr. Mahlab also exchanged talks about a number of political, economic, and development issues in relevant to the current Arab situation and ways to employ the capabilities and energies to serve the Arab nation.

During the fraternal talks between Sheikh Mohammed and the Egyptian Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed stated that the UAE, since the era of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, owe Egypt and its people all honour, respect, and appreciation, stressing that Egyptian human energies were one of the first Arab talents that came to the country, especially in the sectors of education, media and others.

Dr. Mahlab expressed his pleasure at visiting the UAE, appreciating the hospitality and fraternal welcome he received in Dubai, which he described as "the city of happiness, modernity and creativity".

He said "As an Arab citizen; I feel happy when I set foot upon Dubai International Airport and I have the same feeling when I leave this Arab city holding fond memories, it enhances my feelings of pride as it is a unique Arab city which brings together all world cultures and all the people are happy, full of joy and confidence, freedom and hospitality."

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and the visiting Prime Minister highlighted the importance of the media and its national and humanitarian message, especially in terms of "Highlighting the issues of our nation and issues of the Arab nation."

The meeting was attended by Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gargawi, Minister for Cabinet Affairs, Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State, and head of the honorary mission accompanying Dr. Mahlab, as well as other officials.

Mohammed bin Rashid receives poets

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Tuesday at the Zabeel Palace received members of the judging panels of the Al Bayt television programme, an initiative of Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Centre focusing on Nabati poetry.

The show which airs the last of its 13 episodes next Monday is the region's largest Nabati poetry contest and is being aired by Dubai's Sama TV bringing together prominent Arab poets with the aim of nurturing young poetic skills. The winners in the two-categoty contest will take away Dh1 million each in prize money.

In his remarks at the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed welcomed the poets and commended the show as a good step in the efforts to highlight the role of poetry is Arab society and the importance of encouraging Arab youth to sharpen their poetic skills and to interact positively with the Arab cultural landscape.

During the meeting, a poem read out by one of the guests praised the progress of U.A.E. and the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid of the cultural and literary movement in the country, the Gulf region and the larger Arab region.

Mohammed meets Al Ahli football team

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Tuesday at Zabeel Palace received the members and officials of the Al Ahli Football Club, champions of the Arabian Super Cup, Arabian Gulf League and the Arabian Gulf Cup.

In his remarks at the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed described Al Ahli's three wins as national Emirati achievements, and urged the players to always commit themselves to positive energy, determination, patience and optimism in order to advance their performance in the field.

He also described Al Ain's recent win of U.A.E. President’s Cup as a source of pride.

Sheikh Mohammed noted that it is important to support the national football team with new excellent young players from local clubs in order to enable it to engage in regional and international competitions and make achievements for U.A.E. football.

He praised Al Ahli players for their performance and professionalism which he attributed to good management and the patriotism of the players, as well as to their continuous training and building of experience.

The meeting took place in the presence of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai,  Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Deputy Chairman of Dubai Sports Council,  Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Director of Protocol and Hospitality-Dubai, Abdullah Saeed Al Nabooda, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Ahli Club, and other officials.
