Mohammed attends graduation ceremony

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, today (Monday) attended the graduation ceremony of the 35th batch of the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) students in Al Ain.

The graduation ceremony, which took place at the university's new campus, was attended by His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler s Representative in the Eastern Region, Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Sheikh Hasher bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, Director-General of Dubai Media Department, Sheikh Hazza bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Under-Secretary of the Court of the Ruler's Representative in the Eastern Region, Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy, Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education,  Dr. Ahmad bin Abdulla Humaid Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of State for Higher Education, and Mohammed Omran Al Shamsi, Chancellor of the Higher Colleges of Technology.  

The ceremony took place with the participation of a number of sheikhs and senior officials.

Sheikh Mohammed honoured the graduates of Faculties of Humanities and Social Sciences, Science, Management, Economics, Food and Agriculture, Engineering, Information Technology, and Medicine and Health sciences. The graduates took the legal oath before Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The 13 graduates of PhD programmes, were also honoured and awarded their degrees.

He congratulated the guardians of the graduates, noting that the graduates "represent genuine human resource for our country, led by the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan." Sheikh Mohammed cited the shrewd insight of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan when he set up the UAEU 40 years ago to become one of the accredited prestigious regional and international universities.  

"Yes, we, in the UAE build towers and high-rise buildings, but also develop human resources equipped with various disciplines of knowledge and skills," Sheikh Mohammed said.

For his part, Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Vice Chancellor of UAEU, thanked the UAE President for his continuous support to the higher education in general and the UAEU in particular. He also commended the UAE Vice President for his follow up and support to the UAEU's vision to build future generation.

He also extended his thanks to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, for his support to the university, especially in the areas of research and innovation.

Dr. Al Nuaimi thanked Members of Supreme Council and Their Highnesses Ruler of Emirates for their continuous support to the higher education institutions.
