Mohammed attends graduation ceremony of UAE University students

Under the patronage of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Wednesday attended the graduation ceremony of the 32nd batch of UAE University students, which was held at the campus of the university in Al Ain.

The ceremony was attended by Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, Sheikh Rashid bin Saud bin Rashid Al Mu'alla, Crown Prince of Umm Al Qaiwain, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah.

Also present were Dr. Sheikh Saeed bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Hazza bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Under Secretary of the Diwan of the Ruler's Representative in the Eastern Region, Sheikh Hasher bin Maktoum, Director General of Dubai Information Department, Juma Al Majid, Chairman of Juma Al Majid Centre for Culture and Heritage, Lt. General Misbah Rashid Al Fattan, Director of the Office of the Ruler of Dubai, Mohammed Juma Al Naboodah, Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, Director General of the Department of Protocols and Hospitality in Dubai, along with a number of sheikhs, ministers, directors of universities and colleges in the state, members of the diplomatic corps and the parents of 436 graduates from various scientific disciplines, 69 of whom obtained masters and doctoral degrees.

In a speech, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, thanked the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his continuous support to the UAE University for it to always be a centre for enlightening and preparing graduates who occupy many of the top positions in the state, and contribute with their knowledge and skills in the process of development and progress being witnessed in the country.

He expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for his generous sponsorship of the university and support for its graduates and his keen interest to attend the graduation at the university.

Sheikh Nahyan also thanked General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, for his follow-up on the progress of the university, bringing it into the ranks of global universities. Sheikh Nahyan pointed out that it has a worldwide reputation, and provides all means of success to citizens, contributing to the provision of scientific research to serve the environment and society.

Sheikh Nahyan concluded by saying that the university, since its inception 30 years ago, has seen the graduation of around 60,000 students who contribute to the process of construction and sustainable development of the country, led by the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The graduates in turn expressed their thanks and appreciation to the wise leadership for paying great attention and support to students at UAE University.

Sheikh Mohammed, along with Sheikh Nahyan and Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Vice-Chancellor of UAE University (UAEU), distributed certificates to graduates of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS), as well as the Faculties of Science, Administration and Economics, Law, Food and Agriculture and the Colleges of Engineering and Information Technology, and Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS), who all swore an oath before the Vice President and attendees.

Sheikh Mohammed distributed certificates to students who obtained masters and doctoral degrees and congratulated them. He wished them success in their lives and expressed his confidence that they will be the future leaders in both government and non-governmental institutions.

He praised the scientific and technical levels of the university, especially noting the efforts of Sheikh Nahyan, who gave his time and effort to higher educational institutions, saying he was a model of sincerity in his work of service to the nation and its people.

Sheikh Mohammed wished Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, success in his new assignments, stressing the competence of Sheikh Hamdan and his ability to carry out national duty with all responsibility and efficiency.

At the end of the ceremony, Sheikh Hamdan and Dr. Rashid presented a memento from the university to Sheikh Mohammed.

Sheikh Mohammed shook hands with the graduates, wishing them success in their future careers, and took photos with them along with Sheikh Nahyan and the vice-chancellor of the university.
