Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has inaugurated the new building of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) in Al Mamzar, Dubai.

Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, a presentation given by the director general of TRA and the director general of the UAE eGovernment outlined the Authority's strategy for the UAE's telecommunications sector up to 2013. The plan will be later sent to the Cabinet for discussion and approval.

Sheikh Mohammed expressed satisfaction at the strategy which has its focus on qualifying national youth and boosting the process of Emiratisation at TRA.

He gave directives to focus efforts on social networking websites to regulate them, increase the numbers of subscribers to protect them from manipulation.

Sheikh Mohammed also commended highly-qualified nationals' who account for the majority of human resources at TRA's different departments and are responsible for the process of social, scientific and economic development of the telecommunications sector in order for the UAE to retain the global high stature it has in this sphere.

He further urged more efforts to enable the UAE to achieve the top place. "No. one is what we want you to achieve and what we seek for the UAE," he said.

Later, Sheikh Mohammed toured TRA's building which was designed to save water and power using solar panels.

Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied by Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Cabinet Affairs Minister, Major General Mohammed Dhaen Al Qamzi, Chairman of the board of TRA, Ahmed Abdullah Al Sheikh, Director General of the Dubai Government Media Office, Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman -Director General Of Protocol Department and others.
