His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and UAE Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, this morning performed Eid Al-Adha prayers at the Sheikh Rashid Mosque in Zabeel.
Also present at Sheikh Rashid Mosque were H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group, H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, a number of Sheikhs and group of worshippers.
The Imam of the mosque, Al Sheikh Omer Al Khateeb, delivered the Eid sermon, in which he said, "Eid is a day of compassion and regular exchanges of visits. It consolidates the values of the great Islam bequeathed to us by Almighty Allah." He noted that a man ascends with his knowledge, morals and good deeds to the homeland and community.
He commended the leadership for "sponsoring talented youth and innovative ideas in all walks of life to make the UAE prosperous and elevate it to a cluster of advanced countries, thanks to the tolerant Islamic course that encourages creative and innovative ideas that benefit the community and world at large."
Al Khateeb reminded Muslims about the importance of sacrificial animals on this day during which Muslims worldwide come closer to Allah and follow the course of the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).
He wished well to the UAE and good health to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid. Imam Al Khateeb also prayed to Allah to rest the souls of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Sheikh Rashid, Sheikh Maktoum and the nation's martyrs who fell in the line of performing their national duty in Yemen. He also wished well to the Arab coalition, led by Saudi Arabia, and its efforts to achieve final victory and ensure stability for Yemen and the entire region.
