Mohammed bin Zayed and Chinese PM discuss relations (WAM)

General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has said that the visit of the Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao gathers a momentum amid resolve of the leadership in both countries to bolster joint cooperation.

Sheikh Mohammed made the remark on Tuesday, while receiving the Chinese Premier.

He welcomed him and the accompanying delegation, commending his participation in the fifth edition of World Future Energy Summit (WFES) 2012.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister.

The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince said the UAE under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan looks forward to the stronger and strategic relations with China in the light of its weight at the international level to restore and safeguard the international peace, security and stability.

"We are open for boosting and expanding the cooperation and friendship ties with the countries in East, among others, China", he added, citing the growth in a number of Chinese tourists in the UAE, indicating that the UAE has introduced the teaching of Chinese language in a number of schools, where many students are interested to learn the language and understand the Chinese culture.

For his part, the Chinese Premier said China has encouraged teachers and students to learn the Arabic language.

The two sides discussed during the meeting ways to enhance the joint cooperation ties between the two friendly countries. The two countries have expressed joint interest to push forward the bilateral cooperation to the strategic level. They also pledged to increase investments, mutual visits of businesspersons and cultural exchange between the two countries.

The two sides welcomed the signing of cooperation agreement and memorandum of understanding signed today in Abu Dhabi, stressing the move heralds more growth in the relations between the two countries.

The Chinese Premier expressed his pleasure about visiting the UAE, commending the prosperity and the economic diversification policies being experienced by the UAE, thanks to the vision of UAE leadership.

He reiterated that the UAE occupies strategic position, where it plays a vital role in the region, especially on the trade and economic areas, stressing keenness of his country to strengthen the bilateral relations in the best interest of the two peoples.

Also present were Reem Ibrahim Al Hashimi, State Minister, Khaldoun Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority, Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Assistant Foreign Minister, Special Envoy for Climate Change and Energy Affairs and Chief Executive of Masdar, UAE Ambassador to China Omer Ahmed Udai and Chinese Ambassador to UAE Gao Yusheng.

The UAE- Sino relations had witnessed growth in recent years that culminated with high ranking mutual visits. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed stressed during his visit to China in 2009 that the UAE was looking forwards to forging the strategic cooperation with China, especially in the areas of trade, energy and petrochemicals.

 

Mohammed bin Zayed receives Korean PM

General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, met on Tuesday Prime Minister of the Republic of South Korea Kim Hwang-sik.

The Korean PM is visiting the UAE to attend the fifth edition of World Future Energy Summit 2012 (WFES) and the exhibition being held at the sideline of the event.

Sheikh Mohammed welcomed Hwang-sik during the meeting, stressing that the UAE led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, always seeks to develop ties between the UAE and friendly countries in all fields, expressing his pleasure about the visit of the Korean PM and his participation in such a global event, which reflects the extent of relations between the two countries and friendly peoples.

The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince emphasised that the relations between the two countries are moving strongly towards more development and growth, thanks to the support of the leadership of the two friendly countries, and the active developmental role of the Korean companies operating in the UAE.

Sheikh Mohammed and the South Korean PM discussed the distinguished relations between the two countries and ways of enhancing them at various levels in the benefit of the two countries. They also tackled a number of topics of mutual interest.

For his part, the Korean Prime Minister expressed his pleasure about visiting the UAE and participating in WFES, and his close watch of the development attained by the UAE at various levels and fields, especially in the uses of renewable energy technology.

He also expressed his hope to meet Sheikh Mohammed in South Korea to attend the conference on nuclear security to be held there in March.

Hwang-sik expressed his admiration about the development and progress being witnessed by the UAE in all fields, thanks to the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the keenness of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to continue the course to provide all the elements of progress and prosperity to the UAE, praising the growth of relations between the two countries and friendly peoples.

He pointed out that he had met the Korean businesspersons who are in the country, and had called on them not only to achieve profits, but also to contribute to furthering of relations and links between the two countries for the benefit of both peoples.

Hwang-sik said, "We share with the UAE one future, thanks to the strength and durability of relations between the leaderships of the two countries, besides the role of business and companies in the two countries, as well as the depth of friendship ties, which bring together both peoples".

The Korean Prime Minister thanked Sheikh Mohammed for the warm reception and hospitality accorded to him and his delegation during the visit.

Present were Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority, Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, CEO of Masdar and Mohammed Mubarak Al Mazroui, Undersecretary of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court.
