Mohammed bin Zayed meets Egypt's Interim President

General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and the Egyptian Interim President, Counselor Adly Mansour, today discussed the fraternal relations and cooperation between the UAE and Egypt.

The discussions took place as the Egyptian President received the Crown Prince and his entourage at the Al Etihadiya Palace in Cairo.

During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed conveyed to the Egyptian President greetings of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and  His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai,and their best wishes of progress, stability and prosperity for the leadership and people of Egypt.

The two sides also discussed ways of bolstering and supporting aspects of cooperation between the UAE and Egypt in the service of their interests and the aspirations of their two brotherly peoples. They underscored the importance for expanding cooperation between the two countries through strengthening their existing partnerships, in economic, investment and development avenues in particular, as well as through co-ordination on matters of common interest.

At the meeting which was attended by Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council of Abu Dhabi, and Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, the two sides also discussed the latest regional developments, and the efforts by Arabs and the international community to contain their consequences and to boost the opportunities for regional and international peace and security.

The two sides also exchanged views and ideas on a number of matters and topics of common interest.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed affirmed the UAE's satisfaction with the return of security and stability to Egypt, thanks to the efforts being made by the Egyptian leadership at this critical juncture, in partnership with the different effective national powers, in order to implement the roadmap to the future, which lays the foundation for a new reign for Egypt to continue its march of building, development and progress and to play its important Arab and international role.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed re-affirmed the UAE's support to the Egyptian people and its choices for determining their national requirements and aspirations. He also re-affirmed that the UAE's support to Egypt stems from its Arab national affiliation and its own national and humanitarian policy which is based on peace, security, tolerance, love, as well as on urging for cooperation, rejection of division and violence, so as to establish stability and implement development and prosperity for all peoples.

He emphasised that the directives of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan in this regard are clear and stipulate providing support to Egypt and its people, and backing its efforts to preserve its security and stability and to harness all the capabilities to stimulate its economy. This emanates from His Highness Sheikh Khalifa's belief that a strogn and stable Egypt is a strength for, and a pillar of the renaissance of the Arab Nation and the Islamic Nation.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed said: "The UAE people and leadership will always remain a strong supporter for Egypt and its brotherly people in continuation of the UAE's unwavering approach established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan who also established the historic and solid relationship with Egypt and its brotherly people, based on love, friendliness and cordiality and on the principles of fraternity, mutual respect. This approach continues under the leadership of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan who is always keen on deepening pan-Arab solidarity in the service of the causes of the Arab Nation and the Islamic Nation."

"Egypt has offered a lot to the causes of the Arab Nation and the Islamic Nation, and has spared no effort to provide all forms of support and assistace for defending the causes of us Arabs. Therefore it is not strange to see Arabs effectively move to back Egypt and stand by it in times of crisis," Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed said.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi wished Egypt further glory, pride and eminence, and continuous peace and stability. He also wished the Egyptian people success in fulfilling their aspirations for progress and dignified living.

For his part, the Interim Egyptian President, Adly Mansour, asked Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed to convey greetings to the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the people of the UAE.

He thanked the UAE for standing by Egypt and supporting the Egyptian people's choices. He also expressed appreciation of the Egyptian leadership and people for the UAE's initiatives and contributions in support for his country noting that these reflect the strength of the fraternal and outstanding relations between the two countries and their peoples.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State, Lt. General Hamad Mubarak Al Shamsi, Director of the State Security Department, Mohammed Nakhira Al Dhaheri, the UAE Ambassador to Egypt, Staff Major General Eisa Saif Mohammed Al Mazrouie, Deputy Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces, Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Mazrouie, Under-Secretary of the Court of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.

Senior Egyptian officials who attended the meeting include Interim Prime Minister, Hazem el-Beblawi, Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy, Presidential Adviser for Strategic and Political affairs, Mustafa Hegazi,  the Director of the Egyptian General Intelligence Directorate, Major General Mohammed Fareed, Ihab Badawi,  Minister Plenipotentiary and Presidential Spokeman, and Egyptian Ambassador to the UAE, Tamer Mansour.

Egyptian Foreign Ministry: Egyptian people will never forget UAE's historic stance

The UAE’s backing to the will of the Egyptian people is not unfamiliar, as the UAE always stood by Egypt in times of crisis, as it always did with other brotherly countries, the Spokesman of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Badr Abdul Ati, told WAM.

He was commenting on the current visit to Egypt by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

The Egyptian official also emphasised that "the Egyptian people will never forget the UAE's historic stance and its full backing to the will of the Egyptian people."

"Contacts between the UAE and Egypt are ongoing," he added noting that the recent visit by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister to Egypt and his meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister, Nabil Fahmy, were important", Ambassador Abdul Ati added.

He further noted that the said meeting which took place few weeks ago, bilateral relations and ways of deepening them in all spheres, trade in particular, were discussed.

Egyptian President's adviser: Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's visit reflects UAE's interest in backing Egypt

Sakina Fouad, Egyptian presidential Adviser for Women's Affairs, today hailed the support extended by the Gulf states, the UAE and Saudi Arabia in particular, to the 30 June revolution.

The Egyptian senior official, in statements to 24.ae news website, also hailed the visit by General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, today to Egypt.

Fouad emphasised that "the UAE officials' interest in getting first-hand knowledge of the problems in Egypt in order to provide help and assistance in a practical way."

"The UAE's support proves its interest in backing Egypt to help it out of the crisis and succeed in resisting terrorism which danger, if not confronted, would spill over to all other Arab countries," the Egyptian official added.

She noted that the positive aspects of the UAE position on Egypt is represented by an emphasis on the strength of the intra-Arab relations and their coming back to normalcy.

"Egypt will not forget those who helped it and those who mistreated it and became merchants of blood", she added.

Addressing the UAE people and government, the Egyptian presidential adviser said, "The Egyptian people recognised the extent of your love for them. You have showed your true noble essence and attitude to your Egyptian brothers."

Egypt's representative at Arab League thanks UAE

The Egyptian Permanent Representative at the Arab League, Amr Abul Ata, today thanked Arab state, the UAE and Saudi Arabia, for support and helping Egypt after the 30 June revolution.

In a speech at a meeting for the permanent representatives of Arab states to the Arab League, the Egyptian representative said Egypt astonished the world with its 25 January 2011 revolution which was triggered under the slogan "Bread, Freedom and Social Freedom."

In statements to the 24.ae news website, Al Ata emphasised that "the Egyptian people dismissed the attempts to steal his revolution for which they sacrified their own blood, and they then corrected the course on 30 June to regain Egypt's stature among the world's countries."
