Mohammed chairs UAE Cabinet meeting

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai,  chaired the UAE Cabinet meeting at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.

The meeting was held with the attendance of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Presidential Affairs Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Highlighting the importance of sports activities in UAE schools, Sheikh Mohammed described sports as a way of life for children and a key component of their personalities and their mental and physical wellbeing.

Sheikh Mohammed added that preparations for the world championships starts from the primary school and ends at the international podium. "The UAE will be able to take its position on the arena of International Olympic tournaments through proper planning and deliberate actions," Sheikh Mohammed added. He also expressed his confidence in the ability of UAE nationals to excel in international competitions with the support of government entities.

The Cabinet also approved the UAE school Olympics draft, which aims to broaden the base of practicing sports activities, discover and embrace talents as well as improve and develop their abilities and prepare them for global sports competitions aided by the necessary knowledge base and principles of the Olympic as well as raise awareness of the importance of physical activity and sports to preserve good health.

During the meeting, the cabinet also approved the High Committee that will supervise the UAE school Olympics draft project, which includes the UAE National Olympics Committee, Ministry of Education, the General Authority for Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Health. For this purpose, the High Committee will coordinate and cooperate with other government entities.

Sheikh Mohammed said: "We want sports to be part of our children's way of life for their best interest. We want our schools to aspire to reach global sports arenas by embracing talent, supporting and coordinating with sports federations without affecting our children's academic excellence."

The Ministers Council also adopted forming the Board of Directors of the National Council for Tourism and Antiquities with the chairmanship of  Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al Owais, and the Director General of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Tourism and Culture Mubarak Hamad Al Muhairi as Vice Chairman and membership of Director General of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing Khalid Ahmed bin Sulayem, Advisor of the Ras Al Khaimah Emiri Court Mohammed Ahmed Al Kait, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Information in Sharjah Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Director General of the Department of Tourism Development in Ajman Faisal Ahmed Al Nuaimi, Member of the Board of Directors of the Fujairah Tourism and Antiquities Authority Ali Khamis Al Kindi, and  Director of the Department of Planning and Survey in Umm Al Quwain Obeid Sultan Twairish

The Cabinet also approved the restructuring of the Board of Directors of the Insurance Authority under the chairmanship of the Minister of Economy Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, and the membership of Humaid Ali bin Butti Al Muhairi, Maryam Buti Al Suwaidi, Mariam Mohamed Amiri, Hamad Harith Al Madfa' , Hamad Saif Al Mansouri, Ajlan Ahmed Qubaisi and Ibrahim bin Nasser Lootah.

Concluding the meeting, the Cabinet endorsed an agreement between the UAE and the Republic of Montenegro for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion before approving another agreement concerning air services between the UAE and the Republic of Paraguay.
 

UAE Cabinet expresses pride at leadership of Sheikh Khalifa

The UAE Cabinet expressed its pride at the zeal shown by people from all parts of the country in supporting and protecting the prudent leadership of the UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan as well as pride at UAE citizens’ adherence to the Union, its foundations, its institutions and the constitution, and their absolute and unwavering faith that the only loyalty that is of importance is loyalty to the beloved motherland.

The Cabinet also praised UAE people’s complete rejection of all attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of the country, thereby attempting to hinder its relentless march of progress, something which is being witnessed from near and far.

At a meeting chaired by Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Cabinet examined a statement issued by the Office of the UAE Attorney General on the outcome of the investigations made so far with regards to a number of individuals who were arrested recently.

The statement contained the findings of the investigation, showing that these individuals which had conspired to set up links with external elements and had worked in an organised and systematic manner, causing harm to the country and spreading false information in order to incite others against the country and to distort its shining image before the world, and thus had violated all of the principles on which the country is established in clear violation of the UAE constitution and the guiding principles and norms to which we adhere.

The Cabinet said that the UAE will continue with full confidence in its humanitarian mission, based on tolerance, moderation and openness, and that it is moving forward with its development programmes in various political, economic and social fields.

The statement highlighted the goal of consolidating the march of the Union, strengthening its entity and the achievements made over the past four decades to guarantee all that is good for citizens, ensuring their happiness and promoting their role in the service of their country in various fields and at all levels, as inspired by the teachings of our religion, our heritage and the original principles underlying our society.

The Cabinet expressed its absolute trust and confidence in the integrity of the judiciary system and in the procedures which it takes with complete independence, in accordance with the Constitution, laws and regulations of the UAE.

The statement concluded by emphasising that it will respect any outcome of the judicial process with regards to the persons in custody, stressing that justice will be served when the investigations are completed, in accordance with the laws of the country.

Mohammed attends Iftar banquet

 

Sheikh Mohammed also attended an iftar banquet hosted by Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan at his palace in Al Bateen on Sunday.

Alos present at the banquet were Abu Dhabi Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Suroor bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of  Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan,  Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chief Executive of Emirates Group Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Establishment Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Minister of Public Works Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, a number of other sheikhs, ministers and senior officials.
 

Mohammed visits Al Murr, Dhahi Khalfan

Earlier, Sheikh Mohammed  visited Federal National Council Speaker Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr and Chief of Dubai Police Lt-Gen Dhahi Khalfan Tamim.

Sheikh Mohammed exchanged with Al Murr and Khalfan greetings on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.
