Mohammed, Estonia PM talk smart cities

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has received Estonian Prime Minister, Taavi Roivas, in his office at Emirates Towers in the presence of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed bilateral relations between the UAE and Estonia and ways of developing them especially in the field of smart cities and governments, information technology, and co-operation between the two countries in a number of other areas of common interest.

Sheikh Mohammed expressed the UAE's keenness on building co-operation and ties of friendship with all nations to achieve the common interests of its people and the peoples of sisterly and friendly countries.

During the meeting, the Ruler of Dubai and the Crown Prince of Dubai witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), between Dubai's Smart Government and the Government of Estonia on the exchange of experiences, information, knowledge and data in the areas of smart government and smart cities, as well as information technology and modern communications.

The MoU was signed by Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Smart Government, and the Prime Minister of Estonia.

It aims to promote co-operation and exchange of experiences between the two countries in the field of technological innovation to build a smarter future. The deal also aims to encourage investors and entrepreneurs in Estonia to take advantage of opportunities and incentives available in the UAE especially in IT sector investments.

The MoU will enable and contribute to the development of innovative and smart government services and co-operation in research and training programmes.

The Estonian Prime Minister praised the level of global growth the UAE achieved in many vital sectors and called for the intensification of cooperation and exchange of experiences between the two countries so as to achieve common interests.
