Mohammed meets South Africa president

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, today received President of South Africa, Jacob Zuma, and his high-profile ministerial delegation, at Zabeel Palace.

The South African President is touring a number of countries in the region.

Present at the meeting were Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.

They discussed a number of regional issues and those concerning the African continent and ways of regional and international co-operation to support human, economic, and educational development in the poor African continent.

They also tackled ways of enhancing friendship ties and co-operation towards wider horizons, which were described by Sheikh Mohammed as "very good and are based on joint interests and mutual respect, and witness increasing growth at various levels and in all fields.”

President Zuma hailed the level of economic, trade and investment ties with the UAE. He also welcomed the increase in Emirati investments in South Africa, especially in the private sector.

He also highlighted the cultural boom witnessed by the UAE in various domains, and the sophisticated infrastructure. He also praised the amazing development being witnessed by the UAE in clean energy, education, economic, Islamic and other fields.

Among those who also attended the meeting were Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of Federal National Council (FNC); Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and head of the honorary mission accompanying President Zuma; Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Mohammed Ibrahim AI Shaibani, Director-General of His Highness the Ruler's Court, Government of Dubai; Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, Director-General of the Department of Protocol and Hospitality in Dubai; UAE Ambassador to the Republic of South Africa, Hamad Hareb Al Habsi; Kgaogelo Lekgoro, South Africa's Ambassador to the UAE, and a number of officials.

Sheikh Mohammed hosted a banquet in honour of the South African President and his accompanying delegation, which was attended by a number of Sheikhs, ministers and top officials in the country.

Mohammed receives China's National People’s Congress officials

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, today received Arkin Amir Albak, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China and Chairman of the China-Arab Friendship Society, to discuss a variety of parliamentary issues and areas of joint co-operation between the Federal National Council of the UAE and National People’s Congress of China, particularly with regard to co-ordination in regional and international parliamentary conferences.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, attended the meeting which took place at Zabeel Palace.

Sheikh Mohammed praised the UAE-China ties as ''historic'', based on mutual friendship and respect, and constructive co-operation in economic, trade and tourism sectors that serve the interests of the two friendly countries and their peoples.

The Chinese MP lauded the relationship between the UAE and China as ''solid'' at both, the official level and people-to-people bonds. He also commended the democratic experiment of the recent FNC election which he described as ''successful and pioneering''.

Present at the meeting also were Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of Federal National Council (FNC), Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Director-General of Dubai Protocol Department, and Chang Hua, the Chinese Ambassador to the UAE.
