Mohammed receives Namibia Premier

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, received on Sunday at Zabeel Palace Hage Geingob, Prime Minister of Namibia, and discussed with him ways of enhancing economic relations between the UAE and Namibia.

The Namibian prime minister congratulated Sheikh Mohammed on the UAE winning of the bid to host Expo 2020 in Dubai, noting that Dubai is a global metropolitan that deserves this recognition from the international community for its prestigious stature, its modern infrastructure, flexible facilities and incentives it offers to investors, businessmen and others.

For his part, Sheikh Mohammed expressed thanks to Geingob for Namibia's support for the UAE's bid to host Expo 2020.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and  Chairman of Emirates Group, Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State, a number of  senior officials, and members of the delegation accompanying the Namibian prime minister  attended the meeting.

 

Mohammed bin Rashid receives former Nigerian President

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Sunday afternoon received former President of Nigeria Olusegun Obasanjo, who was on a courtesy visit to the UAE. 

During the meeting, the two sides discussed matters relating to the bilateral relations between UAE and Nigeria, and their economic relations in particular.

The former Nigerian president congratulated Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid on the UAE's winning of the bid to host the world EXPO 2020 in Dubai.

On his part, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid thanked the president and government of Nigeria for supporting the U.A.E's EXPO bid. He also expressed appreciation for the support given by all friendly countries, including African countries, to U.A.E. helping it to win the bid to host the international event.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group, Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State and other senior officials.

 

Sheikh Mohammed visits new DIHQA building


His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Sunday evening visited the new headquarters of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA) at Al Memzar.

Upon arrival at the new building, Sheikh Mohammed was welcomed by Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Speaker of Federal National Council (FNC); Juma Al Majid, Chairman of Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage; Ibrahim Bumelha, Advisor to His Highness for Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs and Chairman of the DIHQA's Board; members of DIHQA board, and a number of dignitaries, senior officials and scholars.

Total cost of the new building of about Dh60 million were donated by Sheikh Mohammed.

Sheikh Mohammed toured an exhibition on sacred relics related to the life of the Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him), the Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Quranic Manuscripts and the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Mushaf (Quran copy) section where he viewed ornament designs of the Mushaf, ordered to be printed by Sheikh Mohammed, and will be ready for distribution by the next holy month of Ramadan.

Sheikh Mohammed also viewed some DIHQA exhibits including a collection of poetical works written by Sheikh Mohammed, notably a poem engraved on fabric about the Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him).

At the end of the tour, DIHQA board presented Sheikh Mohammed a copy of the Holy Quran, maquette and poem.

Sheikh Mohammed praised DIHQA's vital role in the teaching and memorisation of the holy book and in spreading the tolerant culture of Islam and teachings of the prophet among the young Muslims.

Ibrahim Bumelha, Advisor to His Highness for Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs and Chairman of the DIHQA's Board, expressed gratitude to His Highness for his patronage and support to the award.

He said the achievement of the new premises is placing heavy responsibility on him and his fellows for broadening the scope of the award for the betterment of all.
