His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, visited Dubai Health Authority’s Elderly Centre at Al Mamzar on Thursday.

Accompanying Sheikh Mohammed were Dubai Deputy Ruler Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Director of Dubai Ruler's Office Lt. General Musabbah Rashid Al Fattan and Dubai’s Director of Protocol and Hospitality Khalifa Saeed Suleiman.

Sheikh Mohammed and the accompanying delegation were received by the director-general of Dubai Health Authority (DHA) Qadhi Saeed Al Murooshid, Director of Elderly Centre Dr Salwa Abdulla Alsuwaidi, Dr Mohammed Ali Al Swaini, acting director of Dubai Rehabilitation Centre, and a number of senior officials at the centre.

Sheikh Mohammed toured the center and inspected the living conditions to ensure that quality medical and psychological services are provided to residents according to his instructions.

In his presentation before Sheikh Mohammed, Qadhi Saeed Al Murooshid said that the Elderly Centre was established in 1993 as per the directions of Sheikh Mohammed, adding that the center is the home of 25 elderly people and it hosts another 50 persons for medical treatment and temporary residence. He added that that the new rest house ordered by Sheikh Mohammed will enable to center to permanently host 50 elderly persons.

During the visit, Sheikh Mohammed viewed an architectural model of Dubai Rehabilitation Centre, an initiative launched earlier this year to provide physical therapy and rehabilitation of people suffering from osteoporosis, neurology and age-related diseases.

According to Al Murooshid, the Dubai Rehabilitation Centre will be located in Jumeirah area over an area of 7,000 square metres and will cost around Dh40 million. The centre will be completed in three months.

Sheikh Mohammed has ordered that the construction of the centre be completed quickly and that it should have the latest and best equipment to provide excellent services for the patients.
