Mohammed welcomes Eid well-wishers

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, welcomed this morning at Zabeel Palace a group of well-wishers on Eid Al Fitr.

Sheikh Mohammed, flanked by Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Dubai Deputy Ruler Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, accepted best Eid wishes from a number of Sheikhs, speaker and members of the Federal National Council (FNC), dignitaries, ministers, commanders of Army and Police, head of government departments and a crowd of citizens and members of Arab, Islamic and foreign communities in the UAE.

The well-wishers congratulated Sheikh Mohammed on the glorious occasion, wishing him good health and happiness and the UAE people more progress and stability under the wise leadership.

Mohammed performs Eid prayers

UAE Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum performed Eid Al Fitr prayers at the Grand Zabeel Mosque in Dubai this morning.

Performing Eid Al Fitr prayers alongside Sheikh Mohammed were Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Deputy Ruler and Finance Minister Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Deputy Ruler Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, a number of sheikhs, senior officials and a congregation of worshippers.

Underlining the importance of tolerance and forgiveness in Islam, the Eid sermon was performed by Imam Sheikh Omar Al Khateeb, who cited several verses from the Holy Quran and the Prophet Mohammed's (Peace Be Unto Him) sayings.

The sermon highlighted the necessity of virtuous deeds that instill patience and forbearance in the hearts of Muslims, calling on worshippers to be merciful and forgiving.

The Imam prayed to Almighty God to watch over UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Mohammed and give them guidance and bless the country with peace and prosperity.

He also prayed for the souls of the late founder and leader of the UAE Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum and Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Mohammed receives greetings from leaders

UAE Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has received congratulatory cables on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr from President Dr. Mohamed Morsi of Egypt, President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov of Turkmenistan and President Isaias Afwerki of Eritrea.

His Highness also received cables from Deputy Prime Minister for Cabinet Affairs of Oman Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud al Said and Prime Minister and Defense Minister of Jordan Dr. Fayez Tarawneh.
