Our airlines are world's largest: Mohammed

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has said that "the UAE has a unique vision until the year 2021 to become one of the best countries in the world. We have global economic ambitions in several sectors, including the aviation sector, and that the next seven years will be crucial for the UAE to become a major economic player in the world".

His Highness made the remarks when commenting on Emirates Airlines' historical orders at the Dubai Airshow, which amounted to more than 500 aircraft valued at Dh650 billion,

"President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan is leading a new phase of growth in the country and everyone, in every sector and every emirate, are working together in accordance with unified directives towards a single vision and common goals", Sheikh Mohammed added.

His Highness continued, "For decades, the country has invested in building a community, and today this community does not have the word "impossible" in its dictionary, 42 years ago, airplanes were strange to most people in the UAE but today our national aviation companies are leading the sector globally. We are investing in the future and we believe in ourselves, in our youth, to bring happiness to our people."

Sheikh Mohammed stated that, "We have the best road infrastructure in the world according to reports, and now we are the owners of the best airline routes. People say the sky is the limit of ambitions and we say that the sky and the atmosphere is just the beginning."

His Highness went on to say, "We have the best aviation and navigation networks as well as the best road networks with the best smart electronic networking. We are connecting the world, and the UAE will not be just a transfer point between East and West, but will also be the new economic centre of the world and we will be the economic, touristic and cultural capital for more than two billion people around us."

He concluded, "We have a message and an invitation to the region around us; the message is that stability in the region is achieved by investing in its economy and bringing together its countries, working on the welfare of its people. The invitation is for all to join us in our quest to build the future and reinvigorate hope in the Arab region."

Arrives in Kuwait

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai arrived in Kuwait, leading UAE delegation to the Arab-African summit, which will begin today.

He was received at the airport by the Amir of Kuwait His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Crown Prince of Kuwait His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, ministers Sheikhs and dignitaries.

At the Royal Lounge, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad and Sheikh Mohammed discussed bilateral relations and topics on the summit agenda.
The Amir of Kuwait also greeted members of the delegation accompanying Sheikh Mohammed.

President of Guyana


His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, received on Monday on the sidelines of Dubai Airshow President Donald Ramotar of Co-operative Republic of Guyana.

Sheikh Mohammed and President Ramotar reviewed bilateral relations in various fields and explored new ways of boosting joint cooperation in diverse areas including training, tourism, seaports and airports, and roads.

The President of Guyana expressed his hope the UAE would assist his country to develop its seaports, airports and roads as well as to train its youth at the hands of Emirati experts, who are recognised worldwide for their rich expertise, efficiency and success in managing and operating these vital facilities.

He praised the remarkable progress the UAE is witnessing in various fields, especially in infrastructure of seaports,
airports, roads and tourism.

President Ramotar delivered to Sheikh Mohammed a message of his country's support for the UAE's bid to host the World Expo 2020 in Dubai.
In his message, he said his country will vote for Dubai when representatives from the 167 member nations of the Paris-based Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) cast their votes on November 27 to decide which city will host the 2020 World Expo.

Sheikh Mohammed affirmed the UAE would place its experiences, potentials and development experiment at service of sister and friendly countries regardless of the geographical location.

He also expressed positive consent of the idea of offering UAE's technical assistance on training  youth in Guyana.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates
Group, Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Health, Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State, and a number of senior officials and members of the delegation accompanying the President of Guyana attended the meeting.

Dubai World Hospitality Championship

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai has toured of the ongoing Dubai World Hospitality Championship, a first-of-its-kind contest for national cuisines.

Sheikh Mohammed toured the Championship venue at the Dubai World Trade Centre and was briefed by Ahmed Bin Hareb, General Manager of Zaabeel Palace Hospitality about the championship and its three categories: Emirati, International and Hospitality Sector. Sheikh Mohammed said the championship, held under the directives of Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, was a unique idea.
