Prosecution appeals verdict: Schoolgirl case

The Dubai Prosecution has appealed the acquittal verdict awarded by the Dubai Court of First Instance to the three bus staff in the schoolbus girl molestation case.

The Court of First Instance acquitted last month JTB, 43, messenger; MBS, 44, bus driver; and FSR, 37, bus assistant, all Indians, from molesting charges of a 4-year-old girl in the bus.

According to the ruling the court did not take into consideration the confessions of the accused that they made before the police because of they were not provided in the attendance of a translator who can speak their mother tongue.

The court decided that the investigations were illegal and formed a violation of Article No 70 of the procedural law which makes it a condition yo provide a translator who is fluent in the languages of both the accused and the investigators.
