The Community Development Authority and Dubai Statistics Centre have launched the second social survey in Dubai 2011 conducted by Dubai Statistics Centre to evaluate and study issues and social relations prevailing in the community as well as to identify the needs and requirements of the social sector.

Khalid Al Kamda, Director General of CDA, said: “The annual social survey helps in understanding the challenges and opportunities in the overall development of the society by presenting the views and requirements of the people realistically.  It also provides us the basic and vital information that enables to shape future growth plans and strategies.

Aref Al Muhairi, Executive Director of Dubai Statistics Centre (DSC) said: "We request all families to cooperate with researchers from DSC and provide information, the confidentiality of which is guaranteed by laws and regulations, to make this massive initiative a grand success" he added.

A dedicated unit within DSC will receive and respond to inquiries and suggestions from the public via phone (04 436 3300) or email (info@dsc.gov.ae)

Field work for the social survey will begin on March 10, and is scheduled for completion on May 10. Some 40 researchers and 10 supervisors will be engaged in the survey to be undertaken across Dubai. A specialised team from CDA and Dubai Statistics Centre will manage the overall operations.

Through the survey, CDA aims at measuring the current KPIs for its strategy 2010–2014 from a comprehensive data of the social sector in Dubai. CDA also looks to evaluate community awareness on key social issues in addition to public perception and knowledge of the services provided by CDA to the community. The survey is expected to cover 4,000 families, spanning the local and expatriate population and 500 workers.

The survey tools will include pre-designed questionnaire focusing on members and family data beside social services, income and others. The survey will be implemented using the latest technologies to optimise its effectiveness.
