Sharjah slashes your traffic fines by 50%

Sharjah residents have reason to rejoice with officials announcing earlier today a 50 per cent discount in traffic fines will come into effect from April 7.

Sharjah Police confirmed the news via its official Twitter account, stating that the Executive Council has approved the decree for cutting traffic fines by half for the next four months, effective from the set date.

No further details have been announced at the time.

Sharjah commuter Adnan Siddique spoke to Emirates 24|7 in elation, saying: “This is the best news we have heard in a while. After sitting for hours in traffic for my morning commute to Jebel Ali daily, this comes as a silver lining of the time I have wasted and the fines I have accumulated in the bargain.”

Seema Dixit, a mother of one, said: “This is certainly great news and lays the burden off those who are struggling with the rising cost of living.

“I just hope this isn’t used as an excuse though, to drive recklessly.”
